First Presbyterian Church

Selected as the Falls Chamber “Business of the Month”

Congratulations to the First Presbyterian Church of St. Croix Falls for being the Falls Chamber December Business of the Month!  Founded in 1880, the First Presbyterian Church of St. Croix Falls has been a staple in this community for many years.  Most of the community will remember the original church burned in 1994, and was rebuilt on Nevada and became the “church in the pines.” As the only Presbyterian Church in Polk County, our current pastor (interim) is The Reverend Dr. Barbara Anne Keely.  Other part-time employees include a secretary, bookkeeper and organist. December is Advent season and Christmas; the church is currently collecting hats, gloves, and warm socks for the clients of Serenity Home.  Sunday worship is held at 11:00 a.m.  December 13 will be a Sunday of Joy (all music) and at 3:00 in the afternoon we are hosting the “Let There Be Christmas” concert of the St. Croix Falls Christian Community Choir.  This event will also include a freewill offering for Serenity Home.  The Christmas Eve worship service will be at 7:00 PM and everyone is invited to attend.

The congregation is collecting adult items for clients at Serenity Home during the holidays and has an ongoing relationship with the food shelf in St. Croix Falls for many years.  Events for 2016, which will serve the larger community, include a Cookie Bake & Delivery to Good Samaritan Home and Comforts of Home, hosting a Blood Drive, having a Community Easter Egg Hunt, and hosting a Women & Girls High Tea.  The church’s Vacation Bible School is open to community children.  In addition to outdoor summer worship and Polka Sunday in September, the church will host a “Blessing of the Animals” and Pet Picture Day, inviting public to have their picture taken with their animals.  As in the past, First Presbyterian is planning a 2016 Harvest Dinner, Christmas Shoeboxes for Children collection, and “Breakfast in Bethlehem”, inviting children to spend time with the residents of Bethlehem as the children prepare for Christmas.  Other special services and events are held throughout the year; press releases are put into the area newspapers inviting the public to attend.

Congratulations to the First Presbyterian Church of St. Croix Falls for being the Falls Chamber of Commerce Business of the Month!
